Flare radiation, dispersion and noise study is conducted to evaluate impact distances of emergency and non-emergency flaring scenario.
The following steps are followed for Flare Radiation, Dispersion and Noise Study:
- Identification of worst-case depressurization scenario (from Depressurization and Blow down Study Report) and non-emergency flaring scenario (start-up).
- Radiation modelling is carried out using Flaresim software.
- Dispersion (Flame-Out condition) modelling is carried out using Flaresim software.
- Dispersion (Flame-on i.e. post combustion) modelling is carried out using AERMOD software.
- Noise modelling is carried out using Flaresim software.
- Heat radiation / flammable / toxic gas / noise impact assessment at various locations such as at flare stack base, outside sterile radius, at property fence; for emergency and non-emergency scenarios.
- Based on impact assessment, flare stack height assessed to avoid heat radiation/flammable/toxic gas impact to personnel.
